We're looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead our fleet operation, ensuring our vehicles, drivers and transport planning deliver exceptional service safely, efficiently and compliantly. The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll oversee the day-to-day management of our transport operation, ensuring our fleet operates efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and legal compliance.
Working closely with our Operations team, you'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time while continually improving fleet performance and operational efficiency.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing the daily operation of our commercial vehicle fleet.
- Leading, motivating and developing our team of drivers.
- Ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence obligations and transport legislation.
- Monitoring driver hours, tachographs and Working Time Directive requirements.
- Managing vehicle servicing, inspections, MOTs and maintenance programmes.
- Controlling transport budgets, fuel usage and operating costs.
- Sourcing vehicle repairs and parts to achieve the best value.
- Monitoring telematics, vehicle utilisation and fleet performance.
- Maintaining driver CPC records and ensuring qualifications remain current.
- Investigating transport issues and implementing practical improvements.
- Working closely with Operations to maximise fleet efficiency.
- Maintaining accurate compliance and transport documentation.
- Promoting a positive safety culture throughout the business.
About You
You'll already have experience managing a commercial fleet and enjoy balancing operational demands with compliance and continuous improvement.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Transport Manager or within a similar fleet management role.
- A strong background in haulage, logistics or commercial transport.
- Excellent knowledge of Operator Licence compliance.
- Experience managing tachographs, driver hours and transport legislation.
- Good understanding of DVSA requirements.
- Experience using telematics and fleet management systems.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to manage costs and improve efficiencies.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A National or International Transport Manager CPC (preferred but not essential).
- A full UK driving licence.
