Rosie O'Learys is a lively Irish bar in the heart of Chesterfield town centre, with live sport, live music and a busy social atmosphere.
We're looking for an experienced, commercially minded General Manager to take full ownership of the day-to-day operation and help drive the business forward.
This is a genuine hands-on management position with full operational control. We're looking for someone who wants to run the venue as their own business — building a great team, controlling costs, increasing sales and creating reasons for customers to keep coming back.
Key Responsibilities
You will have responsibility for:
- Staff: Recruitment, training, rotas, performance management and developing a strong, motivated team.
- Stock: Ordering, stock control, stocktakes, supplier management and reducing wastage.
- Profit & Loss: Taking ownership of the venue's P&L, controlling costs, managing margins and delivering agreed financial targets.
- Sales: Identifying opportunities to increase footfall, spend per head and overall turnover.
- Promotions & Marketing: Planning and delivering promotions, events and local marketing, including social media activity.
- Live Sport: Maximising major sporting occasions and creating a strong atmosphere that makes Rosie O'Learys a destination for live sport in Chesterfield.
- Live Music & Entertainment: Developing a strong entertainment calendar and working with performers and suppliers.
- Food Development: Helping introduce and develop a small, simple and profitable food menu that complements the existing drinks-led business.
- Standards & Compliance: Maintaining excellent standards of customer service, cleanliness, licensing, health & safety and all other operational requirements.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with previous experience managing a busy pub, bar or similar hospitality venue.
You'll need to be commercially aware and comfortable working with numbers, margins, labour costs and P&L — but equally comfortable being visible on the floor, leading the team during busy trading periods.
The right person will be:
- A strong and confident leader
- Commercially driven with a good understanding of P&L
- Experienced in stock and wage control
- Able to recruit, motivate and retain a great team
- Creative when it comes to promotions, events and marketing
- Passionate about delivering excellent customer service
- Comfortable working in a lively, late-night hospitality environment
- Proactive and able to work with a high degree of autonomy
Experience of live sports venues, entertainment-led pubs or introducing a food offer would be particularly valuable.
What We Offer
This is an opportunity to take real ownership of an established town-centre venue, with the freedom to influence how the business develops.
You'll have the scope to build your own team, develop the entertainment and promotions calendar, grow sales and profitability, and play a major part in the next stage of Rosie O'Learys.
If you're an experienced hospitality manager who enjoys taking ownership, building a great atmosphere and driving a business forward, we'd love to hear from you.
