Health & Safety Coordinator
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

About The Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Coordinator to join a well-established food manufacturing business.
Working closely with the Operations and wider management teams, you will play a key role in coordinating the site's Health & Safety activities, helping to maintain a safe working environment and ensuring the business remains compliant with relevant legislation, company policies and industry standards.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with people across a busy manufacturing environment and is looking to take the next step in their Health & Safety career.
You will be involved in risk assessments, workplace inspections, incident investigations, training, compliance documentation and continuous improvement initiatives, while supporting managers and employees with day-to-day Health & Safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day Health & Safety activities across the manufacturing site.
- Support managers and supervisors with Health & Safety advice, risk management and safe working practices.
- Assist with the development, implementation and review of Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Carry out and maintain risk assessments, COSHH assessments and workplace inspections.
- Support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying causes and following up corrective actions.
- Deliver or assist with Health & Safety inductions, toolbox talks and employee training.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and ensure relevant records are maintained.
- Assist with fire safety procedures, emergency arrangements and associated documentation.
- Maintain accurate Health & Safety records, reports and compliance documentation.
- Monitor Health & Safety actions and ensure outstanding issues are followed up and closed.
- Support internal and external Health & Safety audits.
- Work closely with Operations, HR, Technical and Engineering teams to promote consistent Health & Safety standards.
- Assist with Health & Safety meetings and contribute to site KPI reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve workplace safety, employee awareness and compliance.
- Promote a positive Health & Safety culture throughout the site.
About The Candidate
We're looking for someone with practical Health & Safety experience who is confident working with operational teams within a manufacturing environment.
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety Coordinator, Health & Safety Advisor or similar position.
- Experience working within manufacturing, food production or another industrial environment.
- Good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience completing risk assessments and COSHH assessments.
- Experience supporting accident and incident investigations.
- Good understanding of workplace inspections and Health & Safety compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confident working with employees and managers at all levels.
- Good IT, administration and reporting skills.
- Organised approach with strong attention to detail.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.
- IOSH membership or additional Health & Safety qualifications.
- HACCP or food safety awareness.
- Experience supporting external audits and inspections.
- Knowledge of occupational health and workplace wellbeing.
- Experience with Health & Safety management systems and KPI reporting.
Additional Information
Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on experience.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm.
Holiday: 28 days including bank holidays.
