Job Description: Accident Repair Engineer / Desktop Assessor

Role Overview
The Accident Repair Engineer / Desktop Assessor will be responsible for managing vehicle accident repairs within their portfolio, ensuring that repairs are completed within agreed timescales, to the required quality standards, and in the most cost-effective manner.
The role will also involve working closely with the Senior Management Team to establish, implement and manage repair networks for new business opportunities, ensuring that client requirements and contractual obligations are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilise industry-leading technology and estimating systems to process, assess and validate repair estimates in accordance with company standards, including Glassmatix, Audatex and GT Global.
- Provide repair authority to approved repairers in line with agreed terms and conditions, negotiating competitive rates where a repairer is outside the approved network.
- Produce accurate Total Loss valuations and supporting reports.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of repair estimates, identifying opportunities to reduce overall repair costs while maintaining appropriate safety, quality and industry standards.
- Review and validate labour hours, parts, decals, paint specifications and other estimate-related costs.
- Undertake detailed parts-cost checks on all relevant estimates.
- Review estimated Vehicle Off Road (VOR) times and communicate any potential delays or concerns to the Operations Team.
- Work closely with nominated repair agents to ensure required parts are sourced and available, particularly for minor repairs, with the objective of minimising vehicle downtime.
- Support the TTS360 Operations Team in identifying vehicles that may be unsafe or unroadworthy as a result of accident damage.
- Liaise with Operations Teams and repair agents regarding parts, vehicle livery and supply-related issues.
- Escalate significant operational, parts, repair-costing or service-delivery issues to Senior Management as appropriate.
- Work with the Senior Management Team to undertake a defined programme of repair-agent audits, ensuring compliance with agreed standards and procedures.
Supplier & Client Communication
- Maintain accurate repair-agent contact details, telephone numbers and relevant supplier information within company systems.
- Review and authorise repair invoices against the relevant order numbers, agreed costs and invoicing requirements.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding any significant repair issues, anticipated delays or changes to agreed timescales.
- Work closely with the Business Services Team to support the preparation of weekly and monthly client management reports and quarterly KPI reporting for client review meetings.
- Actively participate in client contract and project review meetings when required.
- Maintain professional and effective relationships with clients, repair agents, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Experience & Professional Qualifications
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Audatex Full Certification.
- Strong knowledge and practical understanding of Thatcham Repair Methods.
- ATA Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA) qualification.
- Full membership of the Institute of the Automotive Engineer Assessors (IAEA), or actively working towards membership.
- MIMI – Member of the Institute of the Motor Industry.
- AQP qualification or actively working towards the qualification.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle accident repair methods, estimating processes and industry standards.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or repair quality.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple repairs and priorities effectively.
- A professional and proactive approach to problem-solving and client service.
Pay: £25,420.00-£30,000.00 per year
