Workshop and Site Operative, Doncaster
Due to continued growth and expansion, we are currently looking to recruit a Workshop and Site Operative to join a business in Doncaster on a permanent basis. In this role you will be involved in workshop and assembly, fabrication, site installation and stores support.
We’re keen to speak to candidates with workshop, manufacturing, construction or site-based experience. Plus any basic welding experience would also be a bonus.
Some flexibility will be required in this role as it does involve working away, with a generous structure in place during these periods. Overtime is also available paid at enhanced rates.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7am – 4pmSalary: Up to £32,000 starting salary + Overtime available Contract Type: Permanent
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Workshop and Site Operative:
Workshop & Assembly
- Assisting with the assembly and build of conveyor systems and related equipment.
- Supporting engineers and fabricators with workshop projects.
- Using hand and power tools to prepare, fit and finish components.
- Carrying out general workshop duties and equipment preparation.
Fabrication Support
- Preparing materials for fabrication and welding.
- Assisting with cutting, grinding, cleaning and finishing components.
- Carrying out basic welding tasks where experience allows.
- Learning new fabrication and engineering skills from experienced team members.
Site Installation
- Travelling to customer sites throughout the UK and overseas.
- Assisting with the installation, modification and removal of conveyor equipment.
- Supporting equipment loading, unloading, positioning and assembly.
- Following site safety procedures and working professionally on customer premises.
Workshop & Stores Support
- Helping prepare equipment for dispatch and site projects.
- Packing, loading and securing equipment for transport.
- Supporting stock control, deliveries and workshop organisation.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
Experience and Skills required for this Workshop and Site Operative position:
- A practical, reliable and hardworking individual.
- A mechanical mindset and interest in engineering or manufacturing.
- Previous workshop, manufacturing, construction or site-based experience would be advantageous.
- Basic welding experience is beneficial but not essential.
- Comfortable using hand and power tools, or willing to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel regularly and stay away from home when required.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
