Job Title: Food Safety & Compliance Coordinator
Location: Corby
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum.
Reports To: HSEQ Manager / HSEQ Director
Job Purpose
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Food Safety & Compliance Coordinator to support the launch and ongoing operation of our chilled ready meal packing facility.
This role will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining food safety and compliance systems while ensuring standards are consistently followed throughout the operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating procedures, delivering training, carrying out audits and monitoring compliance on the production floor.
The successful candidate will split their time between developing and maintaining food safety systems and actively monitoring compliance within the packing operation. A visible presence on the shop floor is essential to ensure standards are consistently achieved
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & Compliance
- Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of the site's Food Safety Management System.
- Support the development and review of HACCP documentation.
- Create and maintain food safety procedures, SOPs, work instructions and compliance records.
- Conduct routine food safety, hygiene and compliance inspections.
- Carry out internal audits and support corrective action programmes.
- Monitor compliance with food safety procedures and company standards.
- Verify food safety records and documentation.
- Support traceability exercises and product recall testing.
- Assist with investigations relating to complaints, non-conformances and food safety incidents.
Operational Monitoring
- Conduct routine checks within chilled storage and packing areas.
- Verify temperature monitoring records and investigate deviations.
- Monitor stock rotation and traceability controls.
- Conduct packaging integrity checks.
- Ensure hygiene standards are maintained throughout the operation.
- Monitor employee compliance with food safety, hygiene and PPE requirements.
- Identify non-conformances and work with management to implement corrective actions.
- Carry out routine verification checks as identified within the HACCP system.
Training & Development
- Deliver food safety and hygiene training to employees.
- Conduct inductions for new starters.
- Develop training materials, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns.
- Support the development of a positive food safety culture.
- Coach and support employees to improve compliance and standards.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve food safety and operational compliance.
- Assist with audit preparation and ongoing compliance activities.
- Monitor trends from audits, inspections and non-conformances.
- Support continuous improvement projects and corrective action plans.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience within a food manufacturing, food packing, food distribution or food storage environment.
- Good understanding of HACCP principles and food safety management systems.
- Experience writing SOPs, work instructions and risk assessments.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections or compliance checks.
- Experience delivering training or coaching employees.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- HACCP Level 3 or above.
- Food Safety Level 3 or above.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- Experience supporting SALSA, BRCGS or similar food safety standards.
- Experience within chilled food operations.
- Experience implementing food safety systems within a new or developing operation.
