Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Kitchen Assistant to work at Hollygirt School.
Hours of work - 11:45am - 1:45pm Monday to Friday
This is a term time role only.
The role will support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a keen eye for food safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in catering within a School setting.
This role will work in close co-operation with the Bursar to assist in providing a school meals service throughout school.
Duties
- Assist with meal preparation and food assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Support the cooking process by preparing ingredients and basic dishes under supervision
- Serving dinners to junior and senior pupils and staff
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Ensure food safety protocols are followed at all times, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Restock supplies and ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen operations throughout service periods
- Assist with catering events and special functions as needed
- Follow health and safety regulations diligently to ensure a safe working environment
Skills
- Previous experience in catering, restaurant work, or food preparation is desirable
- Knowledge of cooking techniques and meal preparation processes
- Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary arts and kitchen operations
This is a permanent, full-time post. The salary will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
