We're looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Children's Residential Support Worker to join our team in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, supporting children and young people within a specialist residential home.
This isn't simply a job where you turn up, complete a shift and go home. You'll have the opportunity to build genuine relationships, celebrate the wins, support young people through the tougher days and help create an environment where they feel safe, valued and listened to.
We're particularly interested in hearing from experienced Residential Support Workers, Children's Support Workers, Care Workers, Residential Care Practitioners, Youth Support Workers, Behaviour Support Workers and Therapeutic Support Workers, as well as people with experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).

About the Role
As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you'll play an important part in the day-to-day lives of the young people we support.
You'll help create a safe, stable and nurturing home, providing consistent care and positive role modelling while helping young people develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
Every day can be different — one moment you could be helping with a morning routine, the next you're supporting a young person through a difficult situation, celebrating an achievement or simply being there when they need someone to listen.
You'll work as part of a supportive team, following individual care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and organisational policies to ensure the highest standards of What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
- Creating a safe, caring and nurturing residential environment
- Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people
- Carrying out regular welfare checks in line with care plans and risk assessments
- Providing emotional support, reassurance and positive role modelling
- Encouraging positive behaviour through consistent boundaries and relationship-based care
- Responding appropriately to incidents, safeguarding concerns and emergencies
- Supporting young people with routines and day-to-day activities
- Supporting morning routines where required
- Maintaining accurate daily records, reports and handovers
- Ensuring the home remains safe and secure, including security and fire safety checks
- Completing light household duties to maintain a clean, welcoming home environment
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, managers and external professionals
- Following care plans, safeguarding procedures, risk assessments and organisational policies
- Delivering care in accordance with relevant children's home regulations and 're Looking For
You don't need to have followed exactly the same career path to be great at this role.

You'll also need to demonstrate:
- Experience working with children or young people, with children's residential care experience desirable
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and professional boundaries
- Good written record-keeping skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A proactive, flexible and child-centred approach
- A full UK driving licence is desirable
Most importantly, you'll need to genuinely care about the young people you're supporting and understand that consistency, patience and trust matter.
Working Hours
This is a full-time residential role working on a rota basis.
The role includes:
- Shift work, including weekends and bank holidays
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the service
- Occasional rota changes to support continuity of care
Residential childcare isn't always 9–5 — and that's part of what makes it so important. Your consistency can make a real difference to a young person's sense of safety and stability.
