Location: Thames Valley Region
We are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team, taking commercial responsibility for a section of a major project or across several smaller projects.
This is a key role focused on ensuring the successful financial delivery of our projects, effectively managing commercial risk and maintaining high standards of commercial governance. You will work closely with operational and commercial teams to maximise project performance while building strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Key Duties
Lead the day-to-day commercial management of projects, ensuring accurate reporting, forecasting and effective management of financial performance and risk.
Manage subcontract procurement, contracts, payments and performance, ensuring commercial obligations are administered effectively and projects achieve successful outcomes.
Prepare and manage valuations, payment applications, additional cost claims and final accounts, supporting timely cash collection and accurate financial reporting.
Work closely with project teams and clients on contractual matters, including notices, value engineering and the avoidance and resolution of commercial disputes.
Lead, mentor and develop members of the commercial team, promoting collaboration and supporting their ongoing professional development.
About You
You will be a commercially focused construction professional with extensive experience of managing the financial and contractual aspects of live projects through to final account.
You will bring:
A comprehensive understanding of the construction industry, including measurement, valuation, construction processes and standard forms of contract.
Strong experience of cost and value reporting, financial forecasting, risk assessment and successfully delivering final accounts.
Proven experience procuring and managing major works subcontract packages, with strong negotiation and subcontract drafting skills.
Experience of value engineering, dispute avoidance and resolution, alongside the ability to manage, mentor and develop commercial staff.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Professional membership of a recognised institute such as RICS is desirable, while experience across health, education, mixed-use and commercial projects would be advantageous.
