Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of healthy, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards
- Ensure all food preparation meets food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
- Plan menus that incorporate balanced nutrition, variety, and appealing presentation to encourage healthy eating habits
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients and utensils
- Collaborate with caregivers and staff to accommodate special dietary requirements or allergies
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and manage stock to minimize waste
- Serve meals efficiently while maintaining a friendly, positive atmosphere during mealtime routines
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a childcare, restaurant, or similar setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper hygiene practices in a kitchen environment
- Experience with meal planning and preparing nutritious foods for young children or similar age groups
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment, utensils, and basic culinary techniques
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking and attention to detail
- Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining flexibility for special dietary needs or menu adjustments
