Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Motor Vehicle Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Level 3 essential and qualified MOT tester preferred but not essential.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of vehicles to identify faults using schematics and technical manuals
- Perform repairs and maintenance on various vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, brakes, and electrical components
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out assembly, disassembly, and repair tasks
- Interpret technical diagrams and schematics to accurately diagnose issues
- Carry out welding and equipment repair as required to restore vehicle integrity
- Assist with the installation of new parts and components, ensuring proper fitment and function
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tyre rotations, and fluid replacements
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs and services performed in accordance with company standards
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs needed and answering client questions professionally
- Handle heavy lifting safely when moving or installing vehicle parts or equipment
Requirements
- Proven experience in vehicle repair or maintenance, with a strong mechanical knowledge base
- Familiarity with schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively
- Experience in assembly work and general maintenance procedures
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams accurately for troubleshooting purposes
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with clients
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks associated with vehicle repair work
- Knowledge of equipment repair techniques including welding is desirable
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in automotive technology or mechanical engineering are preferred
