Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Partner / Assistant to work in a small, local alternative educational provision. This paid position offers an opportunity to work closely with a small group of children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, helping them to flourish and thrive. The learning that takes place can be hands on, and incorporates craft activities, creativity and outdoor learning alongside key skills. The role is freelance and flexible - please get in touch if you would like a better understanding on how this would work in practice.
Duties
- Facilitate inclusive activities that promote social interaction and development
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure consistent support
- support the lead practitioner / teacher in practical activities and varied aspects of the role.
- Please note, you will always work alongside a qualified, experienced teacher
Skills
- Experience or training in special education or working with individuals with disabilities is desirable but not essential
- Strong communication skills
- Energy, enthusiasm, sense of humour
- Ability to work patiently and empathetically with children
- Organised and adaptable approach
- Passion for education
- Willingness to complete training as part of induction
