About us
Air Balloon Pharmacy is an independent, family-run community pharmacy in Bristol. We pride ourselves on knowing our patients, offering a friendly, personal service, and being a genuine part of the local community. We're now looking for a reliable and people-focused Pharmacy Assistant to join our team.
About the role
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our day-to-day service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Accurately dispensing and assembling prescriptions under the supervision of the Responsible Pharmacist
- Labelling, picking and checking medicines, and managing stock and date-checking
- Supporting the Responsible Pharmacist with the smooth running of the dispensary
- Serving customers at the medicines counter, answering queries, and offering advice on over-the-counter products within your competency
- Helping patients with their needs in a warm, professional and confidential manner
- Processing prescriptions on the PMR system and handling collections and deliveries
- Keeping the pharmacy clean, organised and well-presented
What we're looking for
Above all, excellent customer service is our priority — a warm, patient and approachable manner matters to us as much as technical skill. As a small, family-run team, the right attitude makes all the difference, so we're looking for someone who is:
- Hardworking and reliable — you take pride in your work, show up ready to give your best, and can be counted on
- Calm under pressure — community pharmacy can get busy, and you stay composed, organised and accurate even when it's hectic
- A genuine team player — you pull together with colleagues, muck in where needed, and help create a positive working environment
- A strong communicator — you're clear, friendly and professional with patients and colleagues alike, and you listen as well as you speak
- Professional and enthusiastic — you bring a positive, can-do attitude and represent the pharmacy with discretion and care
- Detail-focused — you work to a high standard with accuracy and finesse, because in dispensing, getting it right matters
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous pharmacy experience, or
- Completion of NVQ Level 1 and/or Level 2 Dispensing courses
We'd also love to hear from:
- Medicines Counter Assistants looking to progress into a dispensing role
- Applicants with no previous experience — full training will be provided, so if you're enthusiastic, dependable and keen to learn, please apply
