About the Role
Hereward Care Services is seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our adult respite care service. You will lead a dedicated team of support workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs. Registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), you will take overall responsibility for service quality, compliance, staff management, and budget control while driving continuous service development.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Manage the daily operations, admissions, discharges, occupancy levels, and premises of the residential respite facility.
- Quality & Compliance: Maintain registration with the CQC, ensuring the service operates within the Health and Social Care Act 2008, CQC standards, and company policies.
- Person-Centred Care: Oversee the assessment, coordination, and review of tailored Support Plans that promote choice, control, and dignity for service users.
- Team Management: Recruit, supervise, and develop support staff; conduct appraisals and foster a culture of accountability and self-development.
- Safeguarding & Risk: Embed robust safeguarding policies, manage risk assessments, handle complaints, and lead incident investigations.
- Budget & Performance: Manage the service budget, maintain KPI databases, and draft evidence-based business cases for service developments.
- Partnership Working: Serve as the primary contact for social work teams, families/carers, brokerage, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Criteria:
- Qualification: QCF Level 5 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Experience: Proven management experience in care settings, working with adults with learning disabilities.
- Care Approach: Strong understanding and application of person-centred planning and transition support.
- Management Skills: Experience in budget management, conducting appraisals/supervisions, and building business cases.
- Technical & Data Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable tracking KPIs and generating reports.
- Personal Attributes: Solution-focused, empathetic, diplomatic, adaptable, and a confident decision-maker.
- Practical Requirements: Full clean manual driving license with access to a vehicle, satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, and flexibility to work varied/unsociable hours and join the on-call rota.
Desirable Criteria:
- Direct experience managing a dedicated respite service setting.
- Experience leading and managing large teams.
Pay: £38,000.00 per year
