Pay: £8.50 to £11.50 per hour depending on age, apprenticeship stage and experience.
Apprenticeship duration: Approximately 18 months, made up of 15 months of training plus 3 months for End Point Assessment.
PJ's Childcare is looking for a Level 3 Early Years Apprentice / Childcare Apprentice to join our nursery in Farnham. This is a full-time Level 3 apprenticeship role, worked over 4 days per week, and is a practical route into childcare. You will earn while you learn, gain hands-on nursery experience and work towards a recognised Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification.
You will work alongside experienced nursery staff, support children aged 0 to 5 and build the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for a career in early years. This role is best suited to someone who is ready to build a career in childcare and early years. You may be a school leaver, college learner, career changer, or someone already working with children who wants to gain a formal early years qualification.
About the apprenticeship
The Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship supports learners to become skilled early years professionals who help children learn, develop and stay safe. Early Years Educators work with children from birth to 5 years old in settings such as nurseries, pre-schools, children’s centres and reception classes.
During the apprenticeship, you will develop practical knowledge of:
- Child development from birth to 5 years.
- The Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
- Supporting children’s learning through play.
- Safeguarding, welfare and health and safety.
- Communication with children, parents and colleagues.
- Observation, planning and supporting individual children’s needs.
- Professional practice in an early years setting.
The course includes training, workplace learning and an End Point Assessment.

About the role
You will work in an all-age room, supporting children across the full early years age range. This gives you broader experience, more variety, and a stronger understanding of child development from babies through to preschool. You will support the nursery team with daily routines, play, learning and care. You will gradually build confidence and responsibility while completing apprenticeship learning with an approved training provider.
Responsibilities
- Support children’s play, learning and development under supervision.
- Help prepare activities, resources and nursery spaces.
- Support meals, rest times, personal care and daily routines.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
- Follow safeguarding, health, safety and hygiene procedures.
- Attend apprenticeship training and complete required coursework.
- Work with your mentor to develop EYFS knowledge and practical skills.
- Take part in regular reviews with the nursery and training provider.
- Build confidence and responsibility as your apprenticeship progresses.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Caring, reliable and interested in working with young children.
- You have, or expect to have, GCSE English and maths at grade 4/C or above, or recognised equivalent.
- You are ready to commit to a Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship over 18 months.
- Positive, practical and willing to learn.
- Comfortable working as part of a nursery team.
- Interested in child development and early years education.
- Able to communicate well with children, parents and colleagues.
- Looking to build a career in childcare.
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Eligibility for apprenticeship training, to be confirmed with the training provider.
- GCSE English and maths at grade 4/C or above, or recognised equivalent, are required for this Level 3 apprenticeship route.
- Enhanced DBS check.
- References required before appointment.
- Commitment to completing apprenticeship learning and nursery induction.
