Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced freelance gardener to join our team on a part-time basis, working three to four days per week. We are looking for someone with good practical horticultural knowledge who is confident working independently and understands how to properly care for a wide range of plants and gardens.
We maintain a wide range of gardens, from high-end residential and professionally landscaped gardens through to commercial grounds and more straightforward lawn and general maintenance sites. We therefore need someone who is comfortable with both skilled plant care and the everyday practical side of garden maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, weeding, planting, and mulching to keep gardens lush and inviting
- Use hand tools such as shears, spades, rakes, and hoes to shape and maintain garden beds and green spaces
- Operate power tools like hedge trimmers, lawnmowers, and blowers safely and efficiently to enhance productivity
- Install and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules for healthy plant growth
- Apply horticultural best practices for planting, fertilizing, pest control, and soil management to promote thriving gardens
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools essential for precise gardening tasks
- Experience with irrigation systems installation and maintenance
- Ability to operate power tools safely while maintaining high standards of quality
- Growing experience in horticulture or gardening with a strong understanding of plant care
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques to sustain vibrant outdoor environments
- Passion for gardening combined with a solid background in horticulture practices
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with clients or team members
