About Us
Calder Construction & Shop Fitting Ltd is an established construction and maintenance company specialising in retail shop fitting, planned maintenance, repairs, refurbishments, and new build works for major national retailers.
Due to continued business growth and a strong forward order book, we are looking to recruit an experienced and reliable Maintenance Operative to join our expanding team.
The Role
This is a varied and hands-on role covering maintenance, repair, and refurbishment works within retail environments.
You will work across sites predominantly located along the M62 corridor and North Wales, with occasional projects elsewhere in the UK. The role requires a flexible approach to travel, working hours, and occasionally staying away from home when business needs require.
Day-to-day duties may include:
- General building maintenance
- Basic joinery and repairs
- Basic plumbing works
- Patch plastering and making good
- Replacing fixtures and fittings
- Assisting with shop-fitting and refurbishment projects
- Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a multi-skilled maintenance or construction role
- Competence across a range of trades such as joinery, basic plumbing, patch plastering, decorating, and general repairs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence
- Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work
- Flexible attitude towards travel and working hours
Desirable Qualifications
- CSCS Card
- Experience working within retail environments
- Additional trade qualifications
