Live-In CaregiverJob Summary
We are looking for a kind, patient, and reliable Live-In Caregiver to support a lady in her own home. The role is focused on helping her maintain her independence, dignity, and quality of life while providing support with daily activities, communication, and mobility.
The client has a physical mobility disability and requires additional time to process information and communicate due to speech difficulties. The successful candidate will be patient, attentive, and able to communicate in a calm and supportive manner.
The client's husband also lives in the home but does not require any personal care or support. The caregiver will be responsible for preparing meals for both individuals as part of the daily routine.
Responsibilities
- Provide support with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting when required.
- Assist with mobility and safe movement around the home.
- Support the client with daily routines and activities.
- Communicate patiently and clearly, allowing extra time for understanding and speech.
- Encourage independence and involvement in day-to-day decisions.
- Prepare nutritious meals for both the client and her husband.
- Assist with shopping and attending appointments when required.
- Carry out light household duties, including laundry, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and tidy environment.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Monitor the client's general wellbeing and report any concerns to family members or relevant professionals.
- Maintain accurate daily records and handover notes where required.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in care or support work is preferred.
- Experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities is desirable.
- Patient, compassionate, and respectful approach to care.
- Good communication skills and the ability to adapt communication to meet individual needs.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and professional.
- Ability to assist safely with mobility and transfers following appropriate training.
- Basic understanding of health and safety within a home care environment.
