The position is office-based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Candidates must be able to attend the workplace regularly as required for the role.
The Junior Data Analytics Engineer will play a key role in the Data Ops function by helping to develop, maintain and improve the organisation's data platform and reporting capabilities. Working across the full data lifecycle, the role will involve integrating data from business systems, transforming and modelling data, and delivering insights through dashboards and visualisations.
As part of a small and collaborative team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across data engineering, analytics and business intelligence, while working directly with stakeholders across the business. This role is ideally suited to someone who is curious, adaptable and keen to build a broad foundation in modern data technologies and practices.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities.
- Support the development, maintenance and improvement of the organisation's data platform and analytics capabilities.
- Build and maintain data pipelines that collect, transform and integrate data from a variety of business systems and applications.
- Develop and maintain data models that provide reliable, well-structured datasets for reporting and analysis.
- Create and enhance dashboards, reports and visualisations that help stakeholders monitor performance and make informed decisions.
- Work directly with colleagues across different business functions to understand reporting requirements and translate business needs into data solutions.
- Investigate data quality issues and implement improvements to ensure data accuracy, consistency and reliability.
- Monitor and support the operation of existing data products, identifying opportunities for optimisation and automation.
- Assist in the implementation of new data sources, tools and technologies that enhance the organisation's data capabilities.
- Contribute to the documentation of data processes, data models and reporting solutions to support knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Support the adoption of data best practices, including governance, security and quality standards.
- Explore opportunities to utilise automation and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled workflows, to improve business processes and data operations.
- Work collaboratively within the Data Ops function while taking ownership of assigned data products and solutions.
- Continuously develop technical and business knowledge to build expertise across data engineering, analytics and business intelligence disciplines.

Essential
- Strong interest in data, analytics and technology, with a desire to build a career in the data field.
- Understanding of fundamental data concepts, including databases, data structures and data quality.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

- Exposure to data warehousing, ETL/ELT or modern data platform concepts.

- Familiarity with reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Grafana or similar platforms.
- Exposure to data transformation and modelling concepts.
- Knowledge of source control tools such as Git or GitHub.
- Awareness of cloud-based data platforms and modern analytics tooling. (Airbyte, DBT)
- Experience with Python, automation tools or workflow orchestration platforms. (Kestra, n8n)
- Understanding of common business systems such as ERP, CRM or HR platforms and the types of data they generate.
- Interest in emerging technologies including AI-assisted workflows and automation.
Key working relationships
Works closely with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Digital Platforms and other business functions to understand data requirements, develop reporting solutions and support data-driven decision making.
Collaborates with IT teams and colleagues involved in analytics, reporting and data governance activities.
