We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Group Finance Assistant to join our Finance Team and support a number of companies across the Group. As we continue to expand, the Group Finance Assistant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our finance function, supporting sales and purchase ledger activities, reconciliations, month-end processes and finance administration across the Group.

The Role:
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and working closely with the UK and European Management Accountants, you will be responsible for providing finance administration support across multiple Group companies. You will manage sales and purchase ledger activities, assist with reconciliations and month-end processes, and provide holiday and sickness cover for key finance functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Code and post sales and purchase invoices accurately using Sage 200.
- Manage purchase invoice inboxes and liaise with department heads to obtain invoice authorisations.
- Download and process sales invoice data from the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Post bank receipts and payments and allocate transactions to customer and supplier ledgers.
- Reconcile supplier statements and purchase ledger accounts.
- Support daily credit control activities and ensure customer records remain accurate and up to date.
- Assist with month-end procedures, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Support the UK and European Management Accountants with accruals, prepayments and ad hoc finance projects.
- Provide holiday and sickness cover for the Group Sales Ledger and Group Purchase Ledger functions.
- Maintain accurate customer and supplier records while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within a finance, sales ledger, purchase ledger or similar accounting role.
- Previous experience processing invoices, payments and reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively to deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, suppliers and customers.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using finance systems, with Sage 200 experience desirable but not essential.
- AAT qualification or studies would be advantageous, although not essential.
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) required.
