Senior Electrician / Electrical Contracts Manager
Location: Essex & Surrounding Areas
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience
Employment Type: PAYE
Job Type: Full-Time
HMJ Contracts Ltd is looking for an experienced Senior Electrician to take a leading role within the electrical side of our growing building company.
This is a varied position that would suit an experienced, commercially minded electrician who is confident both on the tools and taking responsibility for electrical works from initial enquiry through to completion.
Alongside carrying out and overseeing electrical work, we are looking for someone who can survey and price jobs, identify new opportunities and help us develop a larger standalone electrical offering within the business.
For the right person, there is an opportunity to make the electrical side of HMJ Contracts their own and play an important part in its future growth.
The Role
The position would include a mixture of practical electrical work and management responsibilities, including:
- Carrying out and overseeing domestic electrical installations
- Testing, inspection and EICRs
- Reviewing and signing off electrical certification where appropriately qualified
- Fault finding and remedial works
- 1st & 2nd fix electrical work
- Surveying potential electrical works
- Preparing estimates and pricing jobs
- Liaising with customers from initial enquiry through to completion
- Planning labour and materials for electrical projects
- Ensuring electrical works are completed safely, correctly and to current regulations
- Identifying and developing opportunities for new electrical work
- Helping to build and develop the electrical side of HMJ Contracts
Initially, the role is likely to involve a combination of working on the tools and developing new work. As the electrical side of the business grows, there is scope for the position to develop with it.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with substantial electrical experience who is ready to take on more responsibility than a standard electrician's role.
The right person will:
- Be a fully qualified and experienced electrician
- Be suitably qualified and experienced in testing, inspection and electrical certification
- Be confident taking responsibility for electrical works and compliance
- Have strong domestic electrical experience
- Be confident surveying and assessing potential jobs
- Have an understanding of estimating, pricing and materials
- Be comfortable dealing directly with customers
- Have the ability to organise and oversee electrical works
- Be commercially minded and able to recognise opportunities for additional work
- Be motivated by the opportunity to help grow a part of the business
- Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
Previous experience in estimating, contracts management or running electrical projects would be an advantage, but we're equally interested in hearing from experienced electricians who are ready to progress into this type of role.
Working Arrangements
The majority of our current work is within Essex and the surrounding areas, with travel further afield when required.
The role will involve a mixture of site-based electrical work, surveying and pricing potential jobs, and managing electrical works.
Pay & Opportunity
- Competitive pay/rates based on experience and employment status
- PAYE
- Company van available if required
- Performance-related incentives can be discussed for successfully securing and growing new electrical work
For the right person, this is an opportunity to take genuine responsibility for developing the electrical side of an established building company rather than simply moving into another standard electrician's position.
If you're an experienced electrician who enjoys the commercial and organisational side of the trade as much as the practical work, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
To apply, please send your CV along with details of your electrical qualifications, experience and any previous involvement in surveying, estimating or managing electrical works.
