Qualified Dental Nurse / Trainee Dental Nurse – Career Development Opportunity
Dorset House Dental – Rugby, Warwickshire
Qualified Dental Nurse: From £13.50 per hour
Trainee Dental Nurse: From £12.75 per hour
Permanent | Full-time / Part-time considered
About the Opportunity
Dorset House Dental is an established mixed NHS and private dental practice in Rugby, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, dependable and conscientious individual to join our nursing team.
We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced GDC-registered Dental Nurses, including individuals who would enjoy developing beyond routine chairside nursing and taking ownership of additional responsibilities within the practice.
However, we also believe strongly in recognising potential.
We would therefore welcome applications from exceptional individuals who are not yet qualified but who demonstrate the right attitude, work ethic and values and have a genuine desire to develop a long-term career in dental nursing.
What Matters to Us
At Dorset House Dental, our team works around three core values:
Professionalism
Doing the right thing, maintaining high standards and representing the practice professionally at all times.
Conscientiousness
Being dependable, thorough and accountable; paying attention to detail and taking ownership rather than always waiting to be asked.
Positive Patient Experience
Treating every patient with kindness, empathy and respect and helping to create an environment where patients feel genuinely cared for.
Qualifications and experience are important, but so are attitude, reliability and behaviour.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing things properly and wants to make a positive contribution to the practice and the wider team.
The Role
Depending upon your experience and qualification status, responsibilities may include:
- Providing high-quality chairside support to our clinicians.
- Preparing and maintaining surgeries and clinical equipment.
- Maintaining excellent infection prevention and decontamination standards.
- Supporting the smooth running of clinical sessions.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Providing a professional, caring and reassuring experience for our patients.
- Working collaboratively with dentists, hygienists, nurses, trainees and our reception team.
- Contributing to the wider organisation and standards of the practice.
More Than Just Chairside Nursing
We believe that being a great Dental Nurse involves more than simply providing chairside support.
For an experienced nurse, or someone who develops within the practice over time, there are opportunities to become involved in additional areas such as:
- Infection prevention and control.
- CQC compliance.
- Clinical audits and quality improvement.
- Legionella procedures and monitoring.
- Equipment checks and maintenance schedules.
- Stock management and ordering.
- Supporting and mentoring trainee dental nurses.
- Induction and training of new team members.
- Clinical policies and procedures.
- Supporting the organisation and standards of the nursing team.
You do not need to have experience in all of these areas.
We are more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, initiative and willingness to learn. Training and support can be provided to the right individual.
There is no immediate requirement to take on a formal leadership or management position. However, for someone who demonstrates the right qualities, there will be genuine opportunities to develop additional responsibilities and progress within the practice.
Who We Are Looking For
We would particularly like to hear from someone who is:
- Professional and conscientious.
- Dependable, punctual and reliable.
- Organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Friendly, caring and confident when communicating with patients.
- Comfortable taking responsibility and being accountable for their work.
- Able to use initiative rather than always waiting to be instructed.
- Supportive of colleagues and willing to contribute to the wider team.
- Receptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
- Calm and professional during busy or challenging situations.
- Someone who notices when something needs doing and takes appropriate action.
- Interested in developing their skills and building a long-term career within dentistry.
For qualified applicants, current GDC registration is required for clinical Dental Nurse duties.
Additional qualifications, such as dental radiography, would be advantageous but are not essential.
Not Yet Qualified?
We would still like to hear from you.
For the right person, we may offer the opportunity to join Dorset House Dental as a Trainee Dental Nurse and undertake a recognised dental nursing qualification with the support of our experienced team.
Previous dental experience is not essential for a trainee applicant.
What is essential is a strong work ethic, professionalism, reliability, willingness to learn and a genuine commitment to providing an excellent patient experience.
If you believe you have those qualities, please don't be discouraged from applying simply because you are not yet qualified.
