Job description
Apex Solar Group Ltd is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced Solar PV Installer Team consisting of one lead roofer and one labourer to join us.
We install solar PV systems, battery storage, inverters, gateways and EV chargers for established energy companies. Due to increasing demand and new contracts, we are looking for a reliable two-person roofing team that takes pride in completing safe, tidy and high-quality installations.
This opportunity is for an existing team that works well together and can represent Apex Solar Group Ltd professionally on domestic installation projects.
Responsibilities
- Installing solar PV mounting systems and panels on domestic roofs.
- Working confidently with common roof coverings, including tiles and slates.
- Setting out arrays accurately in accordance with the design.
- Fitting roof hooks, rails, panels and associated equipment safely.
- Maintaining the roof's weatherproofing and preventing damage.
- Working closely with Apex electricians and site supervisors.
- Completing required installation photographs and job documentation.
- Keeping work areas safe, clean and organised.
- Treating customers and their properties respectfully.
- Following site-specific risk assessments, method statements and working-at-height procedures.
- Travelling to installation sites within the agreed operating area.
Lead roofer requirements
- Proven roofing experience, ideally including solar PV installations.
- Strong knowledge of pitched roofs, tiles, slates and weatherproofing.
- Experience installing solar mounting systems and panels.
- Ability to lead and supervise a labourer effectively.
- Good understanding of safe working at height.
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual and able to communicate professionally.
- Full UK driving licence and suitable transport (LWB VAN).
- Appropriate trade qualifications, safety training and insurance for the agreed working arrangement.
- Willingness to provide recent references and examples of completed work.
Labourer requirements
- Previous roofing, construction or solar installation experience is preferred.
- Comfortable working safely at height.
- Physically capable of handling equipment and materials.
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to follow instructions.
- Good awareness of site safety and customer care.
