Step Into Teaching is working with a welcoming secondary school in Derby to recruit a Graduate Teaching Assistant for September.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and genuinely enjoys helping young people overcome challenges and reach their potential.
What Will You Be Doing?
Working alongside experienced teachers, you'll support students both academically and personally.
Your day could include:
- Supporting teachers during lessons.
- Working one-to-one or with small groups of students.
- Helping students understand and complete their work.
- Supporting pupils who need additional academic or pastoral help.
- Working with students with SEND and additional learning needs.
- Encouraging students who may lack confidence or motivation.
- Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines.
- Building strong, positive relationships with students.
- Helping students develop independence and resilience.
- Preparing resources and supporting classroom activities.

All degree subjects are welcome.
Graduates from subjects such as Psychology, English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Sociology, Sports, Languages, Humanities and Education may be particularly suited to the role.
Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential. Tutoring, mentoring, coaching, childcare, volunteering or youth work experience would all be valuable.
