Jamieson Contracting is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts and Office Administration Assistant to join our growing team at our head office in Hyde, Greater Manchester.
We are a highly accredited, award-winning construction contractor that has built its success by providing a customer-focused service and developing long-term partnerships with clients across the public and private sectors.
Following significant growth over the past 18 months, we have secured a strong order book throughout 2026 and into 2027. To support this continued growth, we are looking to strengthen our finance and administration team with a driven, organised and dependable individual.
The Role
Working alongside our existing accounts and office teams, you will provide day-to-day support across accounts payable, payroll administration, supplier and subcontractor records, and general office administration.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Processing supplier and subcontractor invoices accurately and ensuring they are approved by the relevant authorised person in time for scheduled payments.
- Producing reports and key performance indicators relating to invoice processing, approvals and payments.
- Providing general administrative support to the Accounts Manager.
- Maintaining employee payroll records, including tax codes, P45 information and other relevant documentation.
- Reviewing and reconciling employee timesheets before payroll approval.
- Assisting with the reconciliation of payroll accounts.
- Maintaining subcontractor records within our construction management software, including insurance certificates and other compliance information.
- Maintaining supplier records and setting up new supplier accounts.
- Ensuring supplier and subcontractor information remains accurate and up to date.
- Supporting the Office Manager with general administration and day-to-day office duties.
- Handling confidential financial and employee information appropriately.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- A positive, proactive and flexible attitude.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in an accounts, finance or similar administrative role.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Confidence when communicating with colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Strong data-entry, reporting and information-analysis skills.
- A good standard of mathematics and English.
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality when handling financial and personal information.
Knowledge of construction retentions, the Construction Industry Scheme and subcontractor payment processes would be advantageous. Previous experience working within the construction industry would also be beneficial, although this is not essential.
