Job description
Join a team that’s shaping the future of SAP at Nationwide. We’re strengthening our engineering capability to secure and enhance the technology behind the UK’s largest building society. As an SAP Security Engineer, you’ll play a key role in protecting critical banking systems by designing secure access controls, strengthening governance processes and supporting the adoption of modern security technologies. You’ll work across SAP Security, Governance, Risk and Compliance and Database security, supporting both day-to-day services and major transformation programmes. This role goes beyond managing users and authorisations. You’ll help shape how security is embedded across our SAP landscape, working alongside Architecture, Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Risk, Audit and Engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable and resilient solutions.
You’ll help improve access governance, segregation of duties, privileged access management, security monitoring and automation. You’ll help strengthen SAP security by identifying and managing vulnerabilities, supporting security patching activities, improving monitoring and ensuring risks are assessed, prioritised and remediated effectively. This is an opportunity to solve complex security challenges, influence engineering standards and help build a modern, proactive SAP security capability across on-premise and cloud-based environments.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Bournemouth, Northampton or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here .
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll design, build and support secure roles, authorisations and access controls across our SAP systems, making sure colleagues have the access they need while protecting critical business services. You’ll investigate security issues, assess access risks and support governance, audit and compliance activities. You’ll work closely with other technical teams to identify vulnerabilities, strengthen controls and resolve security findings. You’ll help improve and automate security processes and use security monitoring tools to identify and manage risks before they affect our services.
About you
We’re looking for an engineer who enjoys solving security challenges, improving how things work and collaborating with others to deliver secure solutions. You’ll bring strong practical experience in SAP Security and SAP Governance, Risk and Compliance, together with the ability to apply security principles across a complex enterprise environment.
You’ll have
SAP Security Administration and Access Governance – Proven experience administering SAP Security across SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA and SAP Fiori, including role design, authorisations, user provisioning, access management, and Fiori catalogue and role administration.
SAP Governance, Risk and Compliance Access Control - Hands-on experience with SAP Governance, Risk and Compliance Access Control, including Access Request Management, Access Risk Analysis, Emergency Access Management and Business Role Management.
Segregation of Duties and Risk Management – Experience completing segregation of duties assessments, identifying access risks and implementing role changes, remediation actions or mitigating controls,
SAP HANA Security & Administration – Experience supporting SAP HANA security, including user administration, role and privilege management, database authorisations, audit configuration and security monitoring.
Audit, Compliance and Controls – Experience supporting audit, regulatory and compliance activities, including evidence production, control testing, issue remediation and the maintenance of effective security controls.
Security Engineering & Cyber Security Tooling – Hands-on experience using SecurityBridge or a similar SAP cyber security platform to identify vulnerabilities, configuration risks, threats and compliance issues across enterprise SAP environments
