Part-time veterinary receptionist required to join our caring, friendly team. Full training provided, if required.
We are growing fast, and need an additional part-time colleague particularly to cover the current team's lunchbreaks.
We expect the shifts to be
Monday 8.45am to 2.30pm*
Tuesday OFF
Wednesday OFF
Thursday 8.15am - 1.15pm
Friday 8.15am - 6.30pm, with one hour unpaid lunchbreak.
Total hours per week = 19.5
PLUS Saturday one in three mornings from 8.15am to 12.30pm.
* Exact start and finish times negotiable, as long as it is early on Monday morning and provides the opportunity for a colleague to take their lunch hour at 1pm.
If you are a person who would like to settle down and build relationships with our lovely clients; a receptionist with empathy for the patient and owner, excellent communication skills and telephone manner, you should apply. You must be extremely efficient, and detail orientated, even under pressure.
Receptionists are highly valued members of our team.
Priority will be given to applicants with prior experience as a veterinary receptionist, but full training could be provided for a person with transferable skills who wishes to transition into the veterinary profession.
You will receive 4 weeks' paid holiday per year, plus Bank Holidays. There will be no out of hours work.
Your primary place of work would be our Peacehaven site but we may require you to travel to our sister site at Rottingdean to assist the Reception team with sickness or holiday cover. There may also be the opportunity to work additional hours to cover holiday so flexibility is encouraged.
This role would suit someone who is a team player and who is able to work in a busy environment, and prefers a small friendly team. Those that can walk, cycle or arrive by public transport will find this easier, as we have no staff parking on sites.
Duties would include:
- Answering the telephone and dealing with client queries, including via email.
- Booking, cancelling, and changing appointments using Animana, our computerised practice management system.
- Processing and recording payments.
- Completing the end of day reconciliation procedures.
- Keeping client/patient records up to date.
- Ensuring the reception area is always kept clean and tidy.
- Dispensing veterinary medications, after suitable training.
- Communicating with other veterinary practices.
The Mewes Vets is a small animal independent GP ( first opinion) veterinary clinic. We treat pets as friends, and endeavour to have the same vet see that pet on its every visit, allowing us a closer bond with our patients, which we call our 'one pet one vet' concept.
We opened in Peacehaven in 2023. We have two vets, a team of nurses, and currently two experienced receptionists, and need additional support as we grow.
If you would like to join our award winning team, and be part of making this first opinion clinic a huge success, send a covering letter along with your CV, and an animal related joke.
Please note that this role is not suited to anyone hoping to transfer into veterinary nursing as we are not a training practice.
