Job Summary
General Shop Assistant
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking General Shop Assistant to join our team. This is a varied role, working across different areas of the shop to provide excellent customer service and support the smooth day-to-day running of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing friendly and helpful customer service throughout the shop.
- Working in the Home Delivery Office, including taking and processing customer orders and assisting with home delivery enquiries.
- Serving customers and preparing products in the deli.
- Working in the coffee bar, preparing and serving drinks and assisting customers.
- Supporting the greengrocer section, including serving customers, replenishing stock and maintaining an attractive display.
- Working on the shop floor, replenishing shelves, checking stock and keeping the shop clean, tidy and well presented.
- Manning the tills when required, processing payments and assisting customers with their purchases.
- Helping colleagues across different areas of the business as needed.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer service at all times.
- Following company procedures relating to food hygiene, health and safety and customer service.
About You
The ideal candidate will be:
- Friendly, approachable and confident when dealing with customers.
- Reliable, punctual and willing to work as part of a team.
- Flexible and happy to work across different areas of the shop.
- Able to work in a busy environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Organised, with good attention to detail.
- Comfortable handling cash and using tills.
- A positive team player with a good work ethic.
- Previous retail, food service or customer service experience would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right person.
