Duties
- Install new roofs on residential and commercial properties, ensuring all materials are correctly fitted and secured.
- Repair damaged or ageing roofing structures, including replacing shingles, tiles, or metal sheets as necessary.
- Conduct inspections of roofs to assess damage or wear and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
- Prepare work sites by setting up scaffolding, ladders, and safety barriers in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Measure roof areas accurately to determine material requirements and minimise waste.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including proper disposal of debris and materials.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries on site.
Skills
- Proven experience in roofing or related construction trades is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of different roofing materials such as asphalt shingles, metal roofing, tiles, and flat roofing systems.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to roofing work.
- Ability to work at heights safely using ladders, scaffolding, or harnesses.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan work efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Good physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with team members and clients professionally.
- A valid driving licence is preferred for transportation between sites.
