The Council of the Isles of Scilly is looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable and community-minded individual to join us in a truly unique position that combines Emergency Management, Community Resilience and Environmental Health.
This is not a role for someone looking for a routine desk job. It's an opportunity to help shape the resilience of one of the UK's most distinctive communities, ensuring that residents, businesses and visitors are supported before, during and after emergencies, whilst also helping protect public health and environmental wellbeing across the islands.
We recognise that this is a specialist and unusual role. Whilst experience in emergency management, resilience, environmental health or regulatory services would be welcome, it is not essential.

A role that will grow with you
This is a developmental position.
Initially, your focus will be on helping to establish and strengthen the Council's emergency management and resilience arrangements. Working alongside experienced colleagues and partner agencies, you will receive training and support to develop the knowledge and confidence required to help lead resilience planning and emergency response activities across the islands.
As your skills develop, you will progressively build capability within Environmental Health and Regulatory Services, receiving structured training and mentoring to support your professional growth.
Over time, the role will evolve into a balanced position spanning both Emergency Management and Environmental Health functions.

Living and working on the Isles of Scilly
This position requires the successful candidate to live, or be willing to relocate to, the Isles of Scilly.
