This is a key opportunity to join Newberry International Produce Limited at an exciting stage of growth, as the business continues to develop its production and supply chain capability across the UK and international markets.
The Logistics Manager will take ownership of the end-to-end logistics function, ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods across inbound supply, internal storage, and outbound distribution. Operating within a fast-paced FMCG and temperature-controlled environment, the role is critical in ensuring product flow supports operational delivery, customer service, and commercial performance.
The postholder will lead and develop a team of Logistics and Import Coordinators, creating a structured, high-performing function with clear standards, robust processes, and strong cross-functional alignment. A key focus will be driving cost control, improving visibility of stock movement, and strengthening relationships with 3PL providers and logistics partners.
The role requires a proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to balance day-to-day operational delivery alongside continuous improvement and long-term logistics strategy.
Logistics Operations & Planning
- Lead the logistics workstream within complex customer tenders, ensuring all sections are completed with precision, compliance and commercially aligned detail.
- Manage the end-to-end logistics operation, covering inbound raw materials, inter-site movements, storage, and outbound distribution (UK and international).
- Plan and coordinate all transport activity across road, sea, and air, ensuring deadlines and customer requirements are consistently met.
- Ensure all logistics activity is aligned to production schedules, stock availability, and customer delivery expectations.
- Maintain accurate, real-time visibility of shipments, stock movement, and delivery timelines
Import / Export & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation of all import and export documentation, ensuring full compliance with HMRC and international trade requirements.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of customs processes, tariff codes, and regulatory changes impacting the business.
- Ensure all documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, declarations) is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
3PL & Supplier Management
- Manage relationships with 3PL providers, cold stores, and logistics partners to ensure service delivery meets agreed standards.
- Monitor performance through KPIs (e.g. cost, accuracy, timeliness, stock integrity), taking action where standards are not met.
- Lead periodic reviews and negotiations with suppliers to drive cost efficiency and service improvement.
- Procure and onboard new service providers in the UK and Internationally to optimise operations.
Cost Control & Analysis
- Track and analyse logistics costs including transport, storage, and port related charges, identifying opportunities for reduction.
- Challenge cost increases and work with internal stakeholders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for logistics, ensuring alignment with wider business cost targets.
Stock Control & Systems
- Ensure accurate receipting and tracking of all stock movements within internal systems and 3PL platforms.
- Maintain data integrity across systems (e.g. Sage), ensuring consistency between physical and system stock.
- Drive improvements in reporting, visibility, and use of logistics data.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a small logistics team, setting clear expectations, priorities, and performance standards.
- Ensure effective training, knowledge sharing, and development of capability within the team.
- Foster a positive, accountable team culture aligned with Newberry’s values.
Process Improvements & Governance
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all logistics activities.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance service, reduce cost, and mitigate risk.
- Ensure all logistics processes support health & safety requirements, including accurate stock and people traceability.
Person Specification
- Demonstrable experience in a logistics or supply hain role within FMCG, food manufacturing or a time-critical environment
- Proven experience managing end-to-end logistics operations, including inbound, storage, and outbound distribution
- Experience of import and export processes, including documentation, customs, and working with international suppliers
- Experience managing or leading a small operational team, including setting priorities and managing workloads
- Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and holding them accountable for service delivery
- Accountable for the effective, compliant, and cost-efficient operation of the Company’s logistics function, ensuring uninterrupted product flow and accurate stock control.
Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
