The Current positions range from approximately 21hrs per week, 3 days per week, as a keyworker for up to 7 key children in our 3-4yr old room so recent experience is desired.

Purpose of the job:
· To assist the management staff in the day to day running of the pre-school
· To provide a stimulating and varied programme of play and learning opportunities
· To ensure the safety and well-being of the children
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To provide and maintain a high quality service to children and their families working
as part of a staff team to meet children’s individual needs.
Children and Families:
- To develop and maintain positive relationships with children and families, providing the very best care to all children and ensuring the children feel safe and secure within the setting.
- To assist with the planning and delivery of a wide range of suitable adult and child led activities to meet the children’s needs across the 7 areas of learning, taking into consideration the age, stage of development and needs of the children.
- To work within the EYFS and promote high standards of care for the children. Meeting the care needs of the children such as feeding, changing nappies and toileting.
- To assume responsibility for key children and ensure their developmental needs are met, accurately recorded and online learning journeys are up to date.
- To maintain a child centred environment by reviewing displays, resources and room lay out with the team.
- To use observation and reflective practice to contribute to planning and evaluation in the setting.
- To maintain children’s safety and wellbeing at all times during attendance at the setting and on trips.
- To take any action required to ensure the safety and welfare of children and to report any concern immediately to the DSL or DDSL.
- To ensure good communication between staff and parent’s/carers.
Staff and other professionals:
- To work as a positive role model and member of the staff team.
- To attend staff meetings, supervision and relevant identified Training, to improve your own professional development
General:
- To work within policies and procedures at all times and support staff to adhere to them.
To maintain confidentiality and show that you can be trustworthy and professional at all times

Person Specification
· Willingness to learn
· Level 3 early years education and childcare qualification or equivalent
· Previous experience of working with young children
· Sound knowledge of child development for children from birth to 5 years
· Knowledge of the early years foundation stage (EYFS)
· Knowledge of child protection procedures and policies
· Knowledge of health and safety procedures and health and hygiene practices
· Good communication skills
· An understanding of play based approaches to children’s learning and development
· Commitment to equal opportunities
· Some understanding and knowledge to identify when a child is in need of additional support
· Commitment to working effectively with young children and families
· Commitment to undertake further training to improve own skills and professional development through training and further early years practice
· Friendly and flexible approach at work which facilitates the development of effective relationships
Desirable Criteria
· Willingness to undertake further training
· Current Paediatric First Aid qualification
· Current level 2 food hygiene qualification
