The Sussex Heating Care Company is a small, established heating firm based in Bognor Regis. We've built the business on doing the job properly and communicating well — our customers tell us that the reminders, the updates, and turning up when we say we will matter as much as the work itself.
We've now got more work than we can handle. We're looking for one experienced engineer to join us.
THE WORK
Boiler servicing and repairs, full system installs and swaps, powerflushing, unvented cylinders, underfloor heating, and a growing amount of heat pump work. All domestic, across Bognor Regis, Chichester, Littlehampton and the surrounding villages.
THE DAY
Five or six jobs, planned for you by our office. Jobs booked, routes sorted, parts ordered, customers kept informed — you turn up and do the work you're good at.
No quoting. No selling. No evening paperwork. You're here to be an engineer, not a salesman. We don't set upselling targets and we never will.
Our customers book a two-hour arrival window rather than a vague "morning or afternoon", and we try not to move jobs once they're booked. That means occasionally a day runs on. You've got reasonable leeway to finish a job properly — we just ask that you check in with the office so we can keep the next customer informed. Late finishes are paid, not expected for free.
On site, you're the engineer. We're not going to second-guess your diagnosis or stand over your shoulder.
You'd also be helping bring on our apprentice.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Current gas qualifications including ACS CCN1 and CENWAT as a minimum (CKR1 and HTR1 useful)
- Unvented hot water (G3) — or we'll fund it if you haven't got it
- Solid domestic experience — comfortable diagnosing a fault on a boiler you've not seen before without ringing anyone
- Full UK driving licence
- The ability to talk to customers like human beings, and leave a house cleaner than you found it
NICE TO HAVE
Worcester Bosch or Baxi accreditation. Heat pump or MCS experience — and if you fancy getting into heat pumps, we'll pay for the training. It's where a growing share of our work is heading.

HOW WE RUN
We use ServiceM8, so your jobs, notes, photos and forms are all on your phone. That includes location — it's how the office tells a customer you're on your way. It's there to keep the day running, not to time your tea breaks.
We're straight with our staff, same as we are with our customers.
