Kingscomfort Healthcare Limited is looking for dedicated, compassionate and reliable Home Care Workers to join our care team and provide high-quality care and support to individuals in their own homes.
The successful candidate will support service users with their day-to-day needs while promoting their dignity, independence, choice, safety and wellbeing. The role may include personal care, medication support, moving and handling, hoisting and assistance with daily living activities, in accordance with each individual's care plan.
Please note: This role involves multiple short care visits throughout the day, rather than one continuous shift. Applicants should therefore be comfortable travelling between service users' homes and working across different times of the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care in accordance with each service user's individual care plan and risk assessments.
- Support service users with personal care, including showering, bathing, dressing, toileting and maintaining personal hygiene.
- Support service users with mobility and transfers using appropriate moving and handling techniques.
- Use hoisting and other mobility equipment safely and correctly, where required and where the worker has received appropriate training.
- Support service users with prescribed medication in accordance with their care plan, medication procedures, training and competency requirements.
- Observe and report changes in a service user's physical or emotional wellbeing to the appropriate manager or healthcare professional.
- Support service users with eating, drinking and other activities of daily living where this is included in their care plan.
- Encourage service users to maintain their independence and make their own choices wherever possible.
- Provide companionship and appropriate emotional support while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment within the scope of the care worker's responsibilities.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns regarding abuse, neglect, exploitation or potential harm immediately.
- Complete accurate and timely care records, including relevant observations, medication records and incident reports.
- Report accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns, medication errors and other relevant events promptly.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, health and safety requirements and company policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect service users' privacy and personal information.
- Work professionally with service users, their families or representatives, healthcare professionals and other members of the care team.
- Attend required training, supervision, competency assessments and team meetings.
- Carry out only tasks that are included in the care plan and are within the worker's training, competence and role responsibilities.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working in domiciliary care, home care, healthcare or a similar care environment.
- Experience supporting individuals with personal care.
- Understanding of person-centred care and the importance of dignity, privacy, choice and independence.
- Experience with medication support or administration, subject to appropriate training and competency.
- Experience with moving and handling and/or hoisting is desirable.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A caring, patient, respectful and professional approach.
- Ability to recognise and report changes in a service user's condition or circumstances.
- Understanding of safeguarding and the responsibility to report concerns.
- Ability to maintain accurate care records.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a care team.
- Good time-management and organisational skills.
- Ability to travel reliably between service users' homes.
- Willingness to undertake mandatory training and maintain required competencies.
Qualifications and Training
A relevant care qualification, such as an RQF Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, is desirable but not essential where the applicant can demonstrate relevant experience and is able to complete the required training.

Working Pattern
Job Types: Full-time and Part-time
This position involves multiple short care visits per day. Applicants must be able to work flexibly around the care package requirements and travel between service users' homes.

Experience
Home Care / Domiciliary Care: 1 year preferred/required, depending on the specific vacancy.
Language
English: Required
Applicants must be able to communicate effectively in English to understand care plans, communicate with service users and colleagues, record care accurately and report concerns appropriately.
