Experienced Waiter / Waitress – Food & Drinks Service Lara Restaurant & Bar — Anstey, Leicester
Lara is an award-winning Turkish restaurant — winners of Best Kebab Restaurant (Regional) at the British Kebab Awards 2026. We serve authentic Gaziantep cuisine alongside a proper bar: wines, cocktails, beers and spirits. We're looking for an experienced front-of-house person who takes drinks service as seriously as we do.
This role is for someone who already knows their stuff. We'll teach you our menu — that's genuinely not a problem. What we can't teach in a week is confident service and a real understanding of wine and alcohol. If that's you, read on.
You'll need:
- Solid experience waiting tables in a busy licensed restaurant or bar
- Real wine knowledge — you can talk a guest through the list, recommend a pairing, explain the difference between grapes and styles, and open and serve wine properly
- Good working knowledge of cocktails, beers and spirits
- Confidence serving alcohol responsibly, including Challenge 25 age checks
- Calm, friendly service under pressure on a busy Friday or Saturday night
- Comfortable handling card and cash payments on a POS till
- The right to work in the UK, and aged 18 or over (legal age to serve alcohol)
Nice to have:
- Some familiarity with Turkish or Mediterranean food (we'll teach you the menu either way)
- A personal licence or any responsible alcohol-service training
Day-to-day:
- Welcoming guests and looking after your section through the evening
- Taking food and drink orders accurately and making recommendations
- Serving food, wine and cocktails to a high standard
- Keeping tables clean, set and turning over smoothly
- Working closely with the kitchen and bar team
