Danbo Electrical Services Limited is an established and ambitious electrical contractor delivering high-quality commercial electrical installations across a wide range of sectors.
Over the past three years, we have successfully grown our annual turnover to £3 million, and we have exciting plans to continue that growth.
As our business expands, we are bringing our estimating function in-house. This newly created role has been created to support the next stage of our journey by reducing our reliance on external estimating resources, strengthening our pre-construction capability and helping us secure more high-quality projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where you will have genuine influence, work closely with the Directors and senior management team, and help shape the future of our estimating and commercial operations.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Electrical Estimator who enjoys seeing projects through from tender stage into delivery.
You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates for a diverse range of commercial electrical projects, typically valued between £300,000 and £3 million. Working closely with the Directors, Contracts Managers and Project Teams, you will identify opportunities, prepare successful tender submissions and help secure new business.
Unlike many estimating roles, your involvement will not end once a project has been secured. You will remain actively involved throughout the pre-construction phase, providing commercial support, assisting with project planning and ensuring a seamless handover into the delivery stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate electrical estimates from drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Analyse tender enquiries and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Produce competitive tender submissions within agreed deadlines.
- Obtain, review and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Carry out site visits and surveys where required.
- Identify value engineering opportunities that provide cost-effective solutions for clients.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, main contractors and design teams throughout the tender process.
- Attend tender interviews and support post-tender negotiations.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and prepare comprehensive project handover documentation.
- Support business development by identifying opportunities to improve tender success rates and strengthen client relationships.
Post-Award Responsibilities
Following the successful award of a project, you will continue to play an important commercial role by:
- Working closely with the Contracts Managers, Project Managers and site teams to ensure a seamless transition from tender to live project.
- Producing and maintaining accurate project budgets and cost forecasts.
- Monitoring project expenditure against tender allowances and reporting on commercial performance.
- Assisting in establishing project programmes, milestones and target completion dates.
- Preparing and monitoring payment applications, valuations and cash flow forecasts.
- Liaising with clients' commercial and project teams to maintain strong working relationships.
- Identifying commercial risks, variations and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Providing ongoing commercial support to help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standard.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within the commercial construction sector.
- Experience pricing commercial electrical projects valued between £300,000 and £3 million.
- A strong understanding of commercial electrical building services installations.
- Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong negotiation, communication and organisational skills.
- Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with office and site teams.
- A proactive approach with a desire to contribute to the continued growth of the business.
- A full UK driving licence.
Salary & Benefits
We believe in rewarding our people and offer a competitive package including:
- Salary up to £60,000 per annum, with a higher salary available for candidates with exceptional experience.
- Company car or car allowance.
- Company pension scheme.
- 28 days' annual leave, including bank holidays.
- Company laptop and mobile phone.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- Career progression opportunities within a growing business.
- Supportive and collaborative working environment.
- The opportunity to work closely with the Directors and play a key role in the future success of Danbo Electrical Services Limited.
