Elstob Auctioneers is seeking a talented and reliable Product Photographer to join our team at our Ripon saleroom.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality, accurate, and visually appealing photographs of antiques, fine art, jewellery, silver, furniture, and collectables for our online auction catalogues, website, and marketing channels.
This is a full-time position, although we are flexible about how the contracted hours are worked. The role may suit someone who prefers to work their hours over fewer, longer days.
Key responsibilities
- Photographing a wide variety of auction lots, from jewellery and small collectables to furniture and large works of art.
- Producing consistently well-lit, accurately coloured and professionally composed images.
- Taking detailed and additional photographs to highlight marks, signatures, condition issues and other important features.
- Editing, cropping, colour-correcting and preparing images for use in online auction catalogues.
- Organising and uploading images accurately and efficiently.
- Working closely with our valuers, cataloguers and saleroom team to ensure photography is completed in line with auction deadlines.
- Maintaining photography equipment and keeping the studio and photography areas organised.
- Assisting with the photography and creation of content for Instagram, Facebook and other social media channels.
- Identifying visually interesting lots and helping to present them creatively for marketing purposes.
- Assisting with other appropriate saleroom or marketing duties when required.
The ideal candidate
You will have:
- Experience in product, commercial, studio or still-life photography.
- A strong eye for composition, lighting, colour and detail.
- Good knowledge of digital cameras, studio lighting and image-editing software.
- The ability to work efficiently while maintaining a consistently high standard.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence in handling a broad range of objects carefully and responsibly.
- The ability to manage your own workload and meet fixed catalogue deadlines.
- An interest in antiques, art, jewellery, interiors or collectables.
- An understanding of social media content creation would be advantageous.
Previous auction-house experience is not essential. More important are strong photographic skills, reliability, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
