We are looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef/Senior Sous Chef to join our friendly kitchen team and help us deliver consistently high-quality food across our pub and accommodation operation.
The Role
As Sous/Senior Sous you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You will work closely with the Head Chef and wider team to ensure every dish leaving the kitchen is prepared, cooked and presented to a high standard.
This is an ideal opportunity for a chef who enjoys a varied environment, from busy family dining and pub classics to breakfasts and meals for our overnight guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present food to a consistently high standard
- Support the Head Chef with the smooth running of daily kitchen operations
- Help develop and introduce new dishes and seasonal menu ideas
- Maintain excellent standards of food quality, presentation and portion control
- Ensure all food preparation and cooking follows current food safety and hygiene requirements
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen at all times
- Support stock control, deliveries, rotation and minimising food waste
- Assist with breakfast, lunch and dinner service as required
- Help train, support and motivate junior members of the kitchen team
- Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining quality and attention to detail
- Contribute to a positive, friendly kitchen environment
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has proven experience as a Senior CDP or Sous Chef in a similar kitchen role
- Has a genuine passion for good, honest food
- Takes pride in presentation, consistency and quality
- Is confident working in a busy pub or hospitality environment
- Has good knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene
- Can work independently while being a strong team player
- Has good organisation and communication skills
- Is reliable, positive and able to remain calm under pressure
- Enjoys working in a family-friendly hospitality environment
- Has previous experience in a pub, restaurant, hotel or similar setting
Relevant food safety or culinary qualifications are desirable but not essential where suitable practical experience is demonstrated.
