Renewable Energy & Electrical Engineer
PV Solar Battery Storage Air Source Heat Pumps
Salary: £45,000–£50,000 + Company Vehicle + Bonus
West Midlands
We are an established, successful West Midlands-based company with an excellent reputation and a strong client base across the housing, construction and retrofit sectors.
We are now looking to significantly develop our renewable energy division and are seeking an experienced, ambitious Electrical Engineer / Renewable Energy Specialist to join us and help build this exciting area of the business.
Our core business already delivers insulation and retrofit measures to homes and properties, working with established clients and major construction and housing organisations. We see a significant opportunity to offer our clients a complete energy-efficiency and renewable-energy solution, incorporating insulation, solar PV, battery storage and air source heat pumps.
This is an opportunity for the right individual to play an important role in developing that offering.
The Role
You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning and ongoing development of renewable-energy systems, including:
- Solar PV installations
- Battery storage systems
- Air Source Heat Pump installations
- Associated electrical installations and upgrades
- Inverters, controls and energy-management systems
- Testing, commissioning and fault finding
- Ensuring all installations comply with current regulations, standards and manufacturer requirements
- Working alongside our existing insulation and retrofit teams
- Supporting surveys, system design and quotations where required
- Liaising with clients, suppliers and other contractors
- Helping to develop our renewable-energy installation processes and capabilities
Initially, the role will be hands-on, but there is considerable scope for the successful candidate to take responsibility for developing and growing this side of the business.
About You
We are looking for an experienced electrician with a genuine interest in renewable energy and the ambition to develop their career and take responsibility for a growing division.
Ideally, you will have:
- Strong electrical installation experience
- Proven experience with solar PV and battery storage
- Experience with Air Source Heat Pumps or a strong desire and capability to develop this expertise
- Relevant electrical qualifications
- MCS accreditation/experience strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain the relevant MCS accreditation
- Good knowledge of current electrical regulations and renewable-energy standards
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- A professional approach and good communication skills
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
- A full UK driving licence
We are particularly interested in someone who is ambitious and commercially minded and sees this as an opportunity to help build something, rather than simply another installation job.
What We Offer
- £45,000–£50,000 salary, depending on experience and qualifications
- Company vehicle
- Performance-related bonus
- Opportunity to help develop and lead a growing renewable-energy division
- Excellent existing client base and established reputation
- Variety of projects across the residential and construction sectors
- Strong pipeline of work
- Support and investment in your professional development
- Long-term career opportunity within an established and growing company
An Exciting Opportunity
This is a particularly exciting time to join the business.
We already have an established insulation and retrofit operation, strong relationships with major clients and an excellent reputation in our market. We now want to build on that platform by developing a complete home energy-efficiency and renewable-energy offering.
For the right person, there is genuine potential to become a key member of the management team and help shape and grow this division of the business.
If you are an experienced electrician with renewable-energy experience and are looking for an opportunity where you can make a real difference and help build a business within an established company, we would like to hear from you.
