About the role:
A compassionate and reliable ‘Personal Assistant/Cleaner’ is required to support a female employer, living with serious chronic illness. The ideal candidate will have a genuine desire to improve the employer’s quality of life, both in the home and in accessing the wider community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Escorting the employer to appointments, outings (e.g. long walks by the canal) and social and medical engagements, using a car and wheelchair (pushed by the assistant). This may sometimes include taking rabbits to veterinary appointments and any other outings desired by the employer.
- Following instructions and using a duty checklist (usually sent via WhatsApp/text) to ensure tasks are completed well.
- Performing thorough house cleaning daily, meal preparation, food shopping, running errands and daily tidying.
- Managing laundry, changing bedding, and maintaining/cleaning the pet area; including care of small animals (rabbits).
· Following surgery and other medical treatment, bringing meals, making hot water bottles is needed.
Requirements:
- A calm, kind and gentle professional is required.
- Ability to work independently and respect the employer’s need for considerable rest, due to severe pain, illness and mobility issues.
- Strong time management, organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A friendly and respectful working relationship is highly valued.
- A driver with a clean license and access to a car is required, to take employer out into the wider community (a mileage allowance is paid directly by the employer).
