Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Live-in Care Assistant to provide one-to-one support for an elderly lady living with advanced dementia in her own home. The ideal candidate will have a kind, patient, and empathetic approach, with a commitment to promoting dignity, comfort, and wellbeing. As the client is a Spanish speaker, applicants should have a basic conversational level of Spanish to enable effective day-to-day communication. Fluency is not required.
The client is bed-bound, therefore experience using manual handling equipment, including hoists, would be an advantage. However, full training and support can be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality personal care while maintaining the client's dignity and independence.
- Assist with washing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and other personal care needs.
- Support with safe repositioning and transfers using appropriate equipment, including hoists where required.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with eating and drinking where necessary.
- Administer or assist with medication in accordance with care plans and company policies.
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support throughout the day.
- Monitor the client's health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns or changes promptly.
- Maintain accurate daily care records and documentation.
- Assist with light household duties to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
- Follow the client's personalised care plan and work closely with the wider care team to deliver outstanding care.
Skills & Experience
- A caring, compassionate, and patient nature.
- Basic Spanish language skills to communicate effectively with the client (fluency not required).
- Good spoken and written English.
- Experience in domiciliary care, live-in care and dementia care.
- Experience with moving and handling, including hoist use, is desirable; training will be provided if required.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative, and remain calm under pressure.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail when completing care documentation.
- Basic IT skills for recording care notes.
