Job Description: Estate Maintenance Person
Reports To: Facilities Manager
Location: Dual-site coverage across Stone Cross Mansion (Ulverston) and Brettargh Holt Mansion (Kendal/Levens)

Role Overview
As an Estate Maintenance Person, you will help oversee the everyday running, preventative care, and emergency repairs for two of Cumbria's premier historic holiday lets.
Stone Cross Mansion features 18 luxury self-catered apartments set within a Grade II listed 19th-century estate. Brettargh Holt Mansion is a grand estate catering to large groups of up to 48 guests, featuring high-end amenities like hot tubs, an infrared sauna, a home cinema, EV charging stations, and commercial and domestic kitchens.
Your primary mission is to help the Facilities Manager ensure both estates operate flawlessly, and preserve historic architectural features while executing modern tech, mechanical, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities to aid the smooth running of both properties
1. General Mechanical, Plumbing, & Electrical
- Diagnose and resolve minor plumbing issues (e.g., leaks, blockages, shower systems, tap replacements).
- Troubleshoot basic electrical issues (e.g., resetting breakers, replacing light fittings, maintaining extensive distributed speaker and lighting networks).
- Conduct routine testing of heating and ventilation systems to guarantee constant guest comfort.
2. Specialist Amenity & Facilities Care
- Maintain and monitor the home cinema tech and gym equipment at Brettargh Holt Mansion.
- Visually inspect and report on the functionality of onsite EV charging points.
3. Heritage Property & Aesthetics Care
- Perform meticulous fabric maintenance, including high-finish painting, plaster touch-ups, and woodwork repair.
- Regularly inspect external structures, courtyards, and pathways,
4. Guest Response & Emergency On-Call
- Respond rapidly and with extreme discretion to guest-reported maintenance issues during changeover days (Mondays and Fridays).
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to handle urgent evening or weekend emergencies (e.g., heating failures or leaks).
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of multi-site maintenance experience. Backgrounds in 5-star hotels, luxury residential estates, or heritage/historic holiday lets are desirable.
- Technical Skills: Versatile hands-on skills across carpentry, basic plumbing, minor electrical work, painting and decorating.
- Soft Skills: Impeccable presentation, professional communication skills, and absolute discretion when working around high-net-worth guests and events.
- Full Driving License required
