Due to the expansion of our Nursery, we are excited to be recruiting a Nursery Cook / Kitchen Assistant to support our Nursery Chef in providing healthy, nutritious meals and experiences for our children.
Little Dragon's Day Nursery is a warm, family-run setting providing exceptional care and early education for children aged 6 months to 5 years. We are passionate about creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive, and food plays an important role in supporting their health, wellbeing and development.
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and organised individual who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in preparing and serving nutritious meals to young children.
Main Responsibilities
- Assisting the Nursery Chef with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks for children aged 6 months to 5 years.
- Be willing to cover the Nursery Chef in their absence.
- Helping to prepare fresh, healthy and nutritionally balanced food in line with nursery menus.
- Supporting the ordering, storage and rotation of stock.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen organisation.
- Washing up and ensuring kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained.
- Assisting with the completion of food safety records and documentation.
- Supporting the management of children's dietary requirements, allergies and food preferences.
- Working in accordance with Food Standards Agency requirements and nursery policies.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working in a kitchen, catering, school, nursery, care or hospitality environment (desirable but not essential).
- Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate or is willing to undertake training.
- Has a good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Is organised, dependable and able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Enjoys working as part of a supportive team.
- Shares our commitment to providing healthy meals for young children.
