Footlights Macclesfield is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and inspiring Acting Teacher to join our team for our 2026 Summer School.

Summer School Dates
Week 1: Monday 10th – Friday 14th August 2026
Week 2: Monday 17th – Friday 21st August 2026
Applicants may apply for one or both weeks. Hours Shifts are shared equally amongst the teaching team.
Core Summer School Hours: 9:30am–4:30pm each day, with a performance for parents at the end of each Friday.
We also offer wraparound care, with staff sharing these shifts fairly across the two weeks:
Morning wraparound: 8:30-9:30am
Afternoon wraparound: 4:30pm–5:30pm
Fridays: All staff work until 5:30pm to support the end-of-week performance.
Pay £600 per week
The Role As Acting Teacher, you will work alongside our singing and dance teachers to create an exciting week of musical theatre, culminating in a fully staged performance for family and friends each Friday.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver engaging acting, drama and performance workshops for children aged 5–16 years.
- Teach acting techniques through games, improvisation, character work and script development.
- Direct scenes and help bring each week's production to life.
- Encourage confidence, creativity, teamwork and performance skills in every child.
- Support rehearsals throughout the week and prepare students for the Friday performance.
- Work collaboratively with the teaching team to provide a safe, inclusive and positive environment.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and fellow staff.
- Assist with registration, supervision and general pastoral care where required.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience teaching acting or drama to children and young people.
- A qualification in Acting, Drama, Musical Theatre or a related performing arts subject (preferred).
- Confident directing groups of children in rehearsals and performances.
- Excellent communication and organisation skills.
- Positive, enthusiastic and reliable with a proactive attitude.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a creative team.
- Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one (assistance provided).
- A genuine passion for inspiring young people through the performing arts.
