Qualified Dental Nurse
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and professional Qualified Dental Nurse to join our friendly dental practice.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care, assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures and contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the practice.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Dental Nurse who takes pride in their work, maintains high professional standards and is committed to providing an excellent patient experience.
This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week.
About the Practice
We are a busy 7-surgery dental practice providing both NHS and private dental care.
Our friendly clinical team currently consists of:
- 6 Dentists
- 1 Dental Therapist / Hygienist
- A dedicated team of qualified and trainee Dental Nurses
- A supportive Reception and administrative team

Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and the Dental Therapist / Hygienist during a variety of dental procedures, ensuring patients are comfortable, supported and well cared for.
- Prepare surgeries and treatment rooms before and after patient appointments.
- Decontaminate and sterilise instruments in accordance with current infection prevention and control procedures.
- Ensure all clinical equipment and materials are prepared and available for treatment.
- Provide patients with appropriate pre- and post-treatment information and support.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date and confidential patient records using the practice's IT systems.
- Support patients throughout their visit, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Assist with the efficient management of appointments and the smooth running of the surgery.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional clinical environment.
- Follow all infection prevention and control procedures, health and safety requirements and practice policies.
- Ensure surgery and equipment checks are completed as required.
- Work effectively alongside dentists, nurses, reception staff and the wider practice team.
- Maintain a professional, friendly and approachable manner with patients and colleagues.
- Assist with general practice duties when required.
- You may be required to provide dental nursing cover at our other practices when needed, depending on business and staffing requirements.
- Take responsibility for maintaining high standards of clinical care and professional conduct at all times.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Qualified Dental Nurse.
- Current GDC registration.
- Previous experience working within a dental practice is essential.
- Good knowledge of dental nursing procedures and clinical protocols.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Good IT skills and confidence using computerised patient record systems.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.
- Ability to work calmly and professionally in a busy clinical environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- A caring, friendly and compassionate approach towards patients.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Professional attitude and conduct at all times.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care, confidentiality and infection prevention and control.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work across our practices when required.
Desirable
- Full UK driving licence – desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience working across multiple dental practices would be advantageous.
Working Hours
Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
Monday – Thursday:
8:45am – 5:15pm
1-hour unpaid lunch break
Friday:
7:45am – 4:15pm
1-hour unpaid lunch break
Holiday Entitlement
28 days' annual leave per year, including bank holidays.
Unpaid Leave
Where staffing levels allow and the practice is overstaffed, there may be an opportunity for employees to request unpaid leave.
Any unpaid leave will be subject to practice requirements and approval and cannot be guaranteed.
