Working pattern: Monday to Thursday 7.5 hours per day, Friday 7 hours per day
Location: Abingdon Campus (occasionally required to work at Witney Campus)

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-organised Hair & Beauty Instructor/Technician (Maternity Cover) to join our thriving team at Abingdon Campus. As our department continues to grow, we are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about the beauty industry and supporting students in developing practical, industry-ready skills.
Responsibilities
Practical Instruction & Student Support

Assist lecturers in delivering practical hair and beauty sessions
- Demonstrate correct techniques (e.g., styling, colouring, skincare, nail treatments)
- Provide one-to-one and small group support during practical work
- Monitor student progress and reinforce professional standards
- Support students in developing confidence and employability skills
Salon & Classroom Preparation

Prepare salons, classrooms, and treatment areas before lessons
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and products are prepared and fit for use
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and professional salon environment
- Support the running of commercial salon sessions (where applicable)
Technical & Resource Support

Maintain and organise stock (products, tools, consumables)
- Order supplies and manage inventory levels
- Carry out basic maintenance of equipment
- Prepare teaching materials and practical resources
Assessment & Feedback Support

Assist teaching staff with practical assessments
- Observe and provide informal feedback to students
- Support tracking of student skill development and readiness for assessment
Industry & Professional Standards

Model professional behaviour, appearance, and client care standards
- Keep up to date with current hair and beauty trends and techniques
- Promote high standards of health, safety, and hygiene
Essential Experience
-
Qualified to a minimum of Level 2 in Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, or a related discipline
- A good communicator who is enthusiastic about working in the education sector
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Confident supporting students of all ages, particularly 16–18-year-olds
- A passion for developing learners’ practical and employability skills
