Key responsibilities
Be a presence in the church office to address enquiries from the public and volunteers within the church
Answer the telephone
Monitor and handle emails coming to Minster email addresses including Admin, Engage and other shared boxes. Maintaining a log of emails and when they’ve been dealt with.
Be part of the admin team which is a mixture of paid staff and volunteers overseen by Vicar and Ops Manager.
Administrative tasks relating to church life including: assisting clergy/service leaders and music team with Sunday service admin, letter writing, meter reading, checking the post, setting up/supporting clergy for funerals and other larger services.
Administrative tasks relating to the events and café in Minster including: sending booking and confirmation of booking forms, managing a log of all orders and invoices in conversation with Support Services to ensure good systems.
Working with café manager, finance officer and others in the finance team to ensure good administration relating to income/expenditure including vestry sheets following the guidance and systems of Church St Helens.
Act as a point of contact between the congregation and support service team to ensure good communication regarding safer recruitment and safeguarding.
Some admin help for the Vicar including scheduling meetings, booking train tickets, sending out reminders and organising the right paperwork for meetings.
Other general admin tasks which may arise in the course of the ministry of the Minster.
Assistance with the management of ChurchSuite.
Person specification /skills needed
Sympathetic with Christian faith, an understanding or appreciation for the church of England would be helpful.
Computer literate – able to learn new programmes, use Microsoft Office etc.
Organised and able to build and maintain effective systems for managing a large church Minstry.
Work well with other people, including volunteers and staff to build a good working environment where all can flourish and feel supported.
Work well with different teams, working closely within the Minster and with the wider Church St Helens family and Support Services Team to ensure good communication and working practises.
Report immediately to Ops and Events Manager, under wider supervision of the Vicar.
Pay: From £13,218.40 per year
