As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially competitive tenders from the initial enquiry through to project handover. You'll analyse drawings and specifications, engage with suppliers and subcontractors, assess project risks, and develop pricing strategies that support successful project delivery.
This role offers excellent exposure across the full tender lifecycle while working alongside experienced engineering and commercial professionals within one of the UK's leading specialist contractors. Key Responsibilities Tender Preparation & Cost Estimating
Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
Review tender information and assess project scope, risks and buildability.
Produce accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, schedules of rates and pricing documents.
Develop high-quality tender submissions in line with client requirements and submission deadlines.
Prepare tender queries, clarifications and qualifications where required. Supply Chain & Commercial Management
Issue enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers.
Evaluate quotations to ensure technical compliance and best overall value.
Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners.
Support the development of commercial strategies for successful project delivery. Planning & Technical Support
Assist with the preparation of construction programmes, including NEC Clause 31 programmes where required.
Identify project risks and opportunities, proposing practical and commercially sound solutions.
Work collaboratively with technical, operational and commercial teams throughout the tender process.
Ensure submissions comply with health, safety, quality and environmental standards. About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys combining technical engineering knowledge with commercial awareness and has a genuine interest in structural repair, strengthening and infrastructure projects.
You will ideally have:
A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
A minimum of two years' post-graduate experience in estimating, engineering or a similar role.
An understanding of structural repair and preservation works, ideally within the infrastructure sector.
Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
Good commercial awareness and the ability to interpret technical documentation.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Advanced Excel skills and experience using estimating and planning software.
A proactive, collaborative approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
