Furlong Property Developments is a family-run construction company with a strong focus on HMO conversions and high-end renovations, as well as a variety of other residential projects throughout Merseyside and the Northwest. We pride ourselves on delivering quality work, and providing an excellent service to every client.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to become part of theteam and support the commercial side of our projects.
About the Role
This position covers a wide range of responsibilities including estimating, procurement, cost controland commercial reporting. You will be involved from the initial pricing stage through to final account,helping to ensure each project is delivered successfully and remains financially sound.
You’ll be working closely with the Director, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers, so it’s important that you are organised, confident and able to communicate well with others.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates and quotations based on drawings and specifications
- Carry out take-offs and measure quantities for materials and labour
- Assist with pricing and tender submissions
- Source and review quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
- Negotiate rates and oversee subcontractor accounts
- Raise purchase orders and help manage procurement
- Monitor project budgets, costs and overall profitability
- Produce monthly CVRs and commercial reports
- Track labour, materials and plant costs
- Look for opportunities to reduce costs and improve value
- Attend meetings where necessary and work alongside site teams
- Measure completed works and assist with valuations
- Maintain accurate records, spreadsheets and commercial documents
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 3 years’ Quantity Surveying experience within the UK construction industry
- Previous experience in HMO conversions, renovations, refurbishments or similar residential projects
- Good understanding of construction processes and methods
- Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Confident with Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related subject
- Previous experience using estimating software
- Experience with CRM systems

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
