Job Title: Behaviour Therapist
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized behavioral therapy to children with special needs, focusing on behavior modification and skill development.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Conduct thorough behavioral assessments to identify target behaviors and set measurable goals.
- Implement evidence-based behavior intervention techniques to address challenging behaviors and promote positive change.
- Design and deliver one-on-one and group therapy sessions tailored to each child's needs.
- Use data collection methods to track progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
- Train and guide parents, caregivers, and staff on implementing behavioral strategies in various settings.
- Foster a supportive and nurturing environment that encourages positive development and growth.
- Adapt and tailor therapy approaches based on each child's unique strengths and challenges.
- Collaborate with other therapists, educators, and medical professionals to ensure holistic care.
- Attend team meetings, case conferences, and professional development sessions.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of therapy sessions, progress, and adjustments.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in behavioral therapies.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards in interactions with children and families.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, special education, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) is a plus
- Experience working with individuals with ASD in a position of Educational Support Assistant in schools
- Knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and techniques
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others
